Knotted netting course with Shuna Rendel

Shuna Rendel is a textile artist and sculptor who uses traditional textile techniques to create 2D and 3D flexible sculpture. She trained under Anthony Caro at St Martins and now exhibits regularly in the UK and internationally.

Shuna has researched, analysed and taught many woven, netted, linked, looped and lashing techniques from around the world and is a renowned expert in the field.

178We are really excited that she has agreed to put on a 2 day course focusing on teaching you a variety of knotted netting techniques from different cultures and countries.

Through demonstrating different shaping and forming techniques Shuna will show you how to develop your own 2D grids and surfaces or 3D forms. You will experiment with and introduce different materials and other interesting items you bring yourself.

No previous experience is needed to enjoy this practical and creative knotted netting course. You will explore, experiment and develop an understand of the possibilities in the manipulation and flexibility of these techniques and how they respond to a variety of materials

There will be examples of techniques from different countries with books and illustrations.175

The course is £120 for two days and includes a delicious lunch, refreshments and basic materials.
